Have I posted about some of my classmates this semester? I think I have, but I will touch this subject again. I am in classes with JERKS. Big, freaking jerks who don't give a crap about anyone but themselves. Who don't give a crap about their education or how their disregard for others affects others, too. (That's not a good sentence but I don't care.)
I was partners with a girl in my math class. She's a tool. All she cares about his partying and whatever the else heck she does. I wasn't going to be partners with her at first (I HATE GROUPS PROJECTS! My instructor says it's to teach us "how to work with our colleagues"...but that doesn't freaking fly when your colleagues are IDIOTS and don't give a crap about anything or anyone else!) but then she came over to me and kind of recruited me to be with HER because she didn't want to partner with this OTHER classmate. (This other classmate is LDS also, and a very nice girl. She's getting married next month and just because she's different and grew up very sheltered doesn't mean she's not a good person. This other classmate gets tormented and disrespected by a certain group of girls in the program.)
Anyway, I tried to plan with the first girl. We met ONCE several weeks ago. We had to plan a 5-day unit, etc. etc. So, to make a long story short, she texts me SUNDAY NIGHT AT 12:45 AM asking me stupid questions about the assignment that is DUE THE NEXT DAY. Then, she didn't even DO what she was supposed to do. What we had planned on. THEN, after we do our presentation, she tells a different classmate today that it was MY FAULT the whole thing sucked. (I didn't really think it sucked. We went first and I think we did actually better in our write up then the other classmates.) And, thankfully my friend that she talked to (Let's call JERK partner JERK 1, and then my classmate she spoke with is FRIEND 1) told her that it probably would have been better had we actually MET IN PERSON TO PLAN WHAT WE WERE GOING TO DO FOR OUR PRESENTATION.
Some people.
I am a 30ish LDS single female posting some notes about my life.

4 say "Here's what I think!":
Group projects are The Worst. I mean, who do they work for? Nobody!!
The thing is, in my five years as a school teacher, yes that is limited, but still enough to know what is going on....I NEVER once had to plan a unit with a colleauge. When we were all teaching the same subject, we met to let each other know, "This is what I'm doing etc." But we never, had to teach the same lessons.
I totally get your frustrations, and this is why I am oppesed to all group work. It never changes, these girls and the same girls, who in HS probably did the same crap, and screwed those kids too. Now they are adults doing the same thing.
I would totally talk to the teacher and just refuse to do group thing at all, ever -- and tell her real live school teachers, who teach real live kids, tell you, they don't work with their fellow teachers.
And as a fianl note here, I think you will find in your own classroom, that you will do just fine on your own, borrowing from others when you want to, but not having to be yoked to another teacher is so good!
yep... been there done that and what eden said.
I did give a head's up to the instructor...but, she really didn't give a crap. She's all about "working with your colleague" crap, and I told her that unfortunately this semester, it IS crap with my classmates.
